5 reasons why you should try EMS training

You can expect personal trainers who have completed fitness training and have expert knowledge of EMS technology to ensure that you don't over-exercise. The targeted muscle stimulation causes a fast fat burning and consequently the tightening of the connective tissue and thus of your entire body. Special exercises stimulate the back and abdominal muscles, correct muscular imbalances and generally improve your posture.

Who doesn't dream of a slim, athletic and well-toned figure?

Unfortunately, very few people have this naturally. For most people, this goal is associated with a lot of time spent on conventional fitness training. But with EMS fitness training, training times are reduced.

The training is done with electrical muscle stimulation (EMS = Electromyostimulation), in which certain muscle groups are tensed for a few seconds and then released again. EMS differs from strength-based fitness training in several ways.

For this whole-body training:

  • special training clothing (EMS functional underwear) is required, which is equipped with appropriate electrodes
  • it must not last longer than 20 minutes and
  • does not take place more than once or twice a week

Before the first EMS training session, you will be advised and a health check will follow, as certain illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic renal insufficiency and hernias are exclusion criteria. Although the personal results of individual participants vary greatly, they are still more functional - in relation to the actual strength and time required - than with conventional strength training.

Even athletes benefit from EMS training with improved fitness (EMS Fitness).

The weight loss success with EMS training is limited to about 1.5 kilograms within ten weeks, but since it is mainly intra-abdominal fat, also known as visceral fat, that is reduced in the abdominal area, the reduction can be considered a success. This is because this inflammation-promoting fat promotes insulin resistance and arteriosclerosis, thus increasing the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, stroke or heart attack. Since you are supervised by your personal, well-trained coach throughout the EMS fitness training, EMS training is safer than strength training.

The personal trainer in charge of you will assist you with your exercises and make sure that the electro-muscle stimulation is always adapted to your performance level. EMS is especially suitable for people who can or want to spend little time on training. We know that our body movements are controlled by electric impulses coming from the brain. During electromyostimulation, the control is done by electrodes incorporated in a special training vest, which provide electrical muscle stimulation in the range of 80 to 150 hertz.

During EMS, the muscle is contracted (contracted) 85 times more frequently than during normal strength training. This causes almost the entire skeletal musculature to be addressed and the deeper muscles to be trained. And this in turn has the effect of both stimulating growth and correcting muscular imbalance. This training proves to be particularly effective for back pain.

Electromuscular stimulation eventually results in increased muscle strength without much effort on your part. Compared to conventional strength training, this training method has the advantage that the joints are spared. In addition, the increased fat burning results in a reduction of the body circumference in the area of hips and legs. The firming effect also has a weakening influence on cellulite. Despite all the euphoria about these training successes, however, training for longer than 2 x 20 minutes per week should be avoided under any circumstances.

Since this fitness method sends electrical impulses to the muscles during training via the electrodes in the special clothing, it is important that the exercise sessions are continuously monitored by a well-trained fitness trainer, physiotherapist or sports physician who regulates the current intensity with the aid of a control panel.

Incorrect or excessive use over time could otherwise cause damage to the muscle fibers and kidneys. If the training guidelines are followed, no side effects should be expected from electromyostimulation. However, if symptoms such as weakness, pain, palpitations, numbness or tingling occur after training, you should always consult your family doctor for clarification.

In the functional clothing, electrodes are also attached in the area of the lumbar spine. In this way, the muscles of the rear hip muscles, which are usually not very well trained, can be strengthened, the pelvic floor can be strengthened, and back pain, especially in the lumbar spine area (lumbar spine syndrome), can be reduced.

A number of studies have now been conducted on this subject, such as the study conducted by the University of Bayreuth, in which almost 89 percent of the study participants confirmed that their back pain was reduced, with almost 39 percent of the subjects experiencing a sharp reduction in pain. Electromuscular stimulation can thus be described as beneficial to the back.

However, these successes do not occur within a very short time. EMS training should therefore be carried out over a period of at least six months and no more than 20 minutes per week.

There are many reasons for this. The main arguments are:

  1.  At Bionic, you can be sure that you will receive all-round, expert support during your training.
  2. EMS training is done without weights, is easy on the joints and therefore an excellent method for people who have to take care of their joints. This includes especially older and/or weak and/or overweight people. Especially the age-related loss of strength can be compensated in a non-stressful way.
  3. A training session lasts only once 20 minutes per week. In the process, 90 percent of your muscles, for example the chest, back, arm and leg muscles, are trained at the same time and muscle strength is improved.
  4. You can feel completely comfortable with us, because we always have a good atmosphere and provide everything for your well-being - from fresh towels to valuable care products.
  5. Since we make appointments for individual training, you will never have to train in crowded rooms.
